What if your lack of faith took away your speech? What’s that? Oh, your faith is too strong. I’m sure Zechariah thought the same, as he was righteous in God’s sight. However, in a brief moment of doubt, Zechariah went from speaking to the angel of Gabriel to not being able to speak at all.
Zechariah and his wife prayed to God for a child. When God sent his angel Gabriel to tell him the good news he looked at who he was and his old age. Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years (Luke 1:18). He must have forgotten about Abraham. When God decides to bless you with the plan and purpose He has for you. Questioning and doubting are the last things we want to do. “But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.” (Luke 1:20)
Have faith in your prayer. When you begin to doubt, you are telling God yeah, “I don’t really believe you’re going to do this for me.” If you don’t believe it why did you pray about it in the first place?
