Dr. King's Sermon on Paul's Letter to America

After Christ Martin Luther King

We are now approaching mid-January and if you are reading this praise God because you made it another day. Many churches are open while others are still closed with no known date of reentry. We say we know how good God is. A Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness. Do we truly believe that without question or doubt? See, there is a devil in hell that wants to manipulate your faith into fear, dim your light to darkness, and close the doors of the church for good. What you believe in your mind and speak out of your mouth becomes your truth, and the last I checked God didn't need help with the truth. He is the truth.

It's too much going on in the world to not be in the church, to not be saved. Yes, I know we are the church and you don't have to attend church in a building to be saved, BUT do you take your church (body) to fellowship with another church (body)? If Jesus worshiped at the temple and preached with a community of believers, we can too. We have to come together in some way.

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 1 Corinthians 1:10
Those were Paul's words to the church at Corinth.

The following are words from Dr. King in 1956 when he preached what he imagined Paul would say to the American church.

The church is the body of Christ. In the body of Christ, there can be no division. In the body of Christ, there can be no disunity.
